Obituary for Edith Church Ward

"Mrs. Edith Church Ward, 79, of 206 Elmwood Ave., died Monday evening, Feb. 3, 1958, at Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home, 602 Hudson St., after an illness of several months.
  Mrs. Ward, who was the daughter of the late Kate Schuyler White and William Andrus Church lived most of her life in this city. She was born in the old family residence at 407 N. Aurora St., from which she was married in 1900.
  Her husband, a member of the Class of 1898 at Cornell University was heat engineer at the University from 1919 until his retirement in June 1944. Following their marriage they lived for some years in East Orange, N.J. and Germantown, Pa., before returning to Ithaca in 1919. He died in December 1944.
  Mrs. Ward was a member of several local organizations including the Engineering Women's Club of Cornell and the P.E.O. Sisterhood, She had long attended the First Congregational Church of Ithaca following long family association with this church.
  She is survived by a son, H Schuyler Ward; a grandson, John Schuyler Ward: a sister, Mrs.
Madeline Church Reed all of Ithaca and a cousin, Edwin Fayette Church of Elmira.
  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Wagner Funeral Home, 421 N. Aurora St., with the Rev. Richard Means of the First Congregational Church officiating.
  Burial will be in Morris in the spring."
