Obituary for BEN Mintz, The Ithaca Journal, Sep 3 1920, p.5

"Ben Mintz, one of Ithaca's oldest and best known merchants, died at 9 o'clock last night at his residence, 402 West Seneca street, after a brief illness. Mr. Mintz was 65 years old. He had been engaged in the clothing business in this city at 129-131 East State street continuously for the past 44 years.
...
Born in Poland, Mr. Mintz came to America with his brother, the late Louis Mintz of Newark, N. J., when he was only 13 years of age. He received his early business training in Syracuse and came to Ithaca in 1876 and opened a clothing store.
...
Mr. Mintz is survived by his widow who was formerly Miss Rachel Levinson of Syracuse; one daughter, Miss Esther A. Mintz of this city; six sons, Harry B., of Woodside, L. I., Jay J., of New York City; Aaron G., Gustave E., and Lionel E. Mintz, all of this city; and Lawrence M. Mintz of Albany; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Harrison of Syracuse and Mrs. Anna Lebovsky of Watertown; three stepbrothers, Hiram, Harry and Jacob Mintz, all of Binghamton.
The funeral will be held from the family residence at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rabbi Feinberg of Syracuse officiating. The body will be placed in the temporary receiving vault at Lake View Cemetery, and later will be taken to Syracuse where interment will be made in the family plot."
