Obituary for Dr. R. Glen Wiggans

"WESTPORT, CONN. - Dr. R. Glen Wiggans, 45, a native of Ithaca, died Friday Feb. 23, 1968, in Norwalk, Conn., Hospital after a long illness. He was a urologist in Norwalk and was associated with the Norwalk Hospital.
Following premedical training at Cornell University, he entered Cornell Medical School in New York City during the accelerated program, graduating in 1946.
From 1947 through 1949, he was a flight surgeon with the Air Dorce[sic] Medical Corps, achieving the rank of captain.
After his discharge, he completed his internship in Bellevue Hospital, New York City, specializing in urology. He then moved to Norwalk. He had taught at Bellevue and Cornell Medical School.
Dr. Wiggans was born in Ithaca on July 23, 1922, son of Prof. Roy Wiggans and Mrs. Wiggans of 315 Comstock Rd.
He had been active in various musical circles, was a member of Ithaca High School orchestra and Ithaca Presbyterian Church choir and, in Norwalk played cello in the civic symphony orchestra.
He was a member of the Saugatuck Congregational Church, the American Medical Assn., the American Urological Assn. and had been active in the Indian Guide program in the YMCA. He was a past president of the Norwalk Medical Assn.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Marita Mayers Wiggans; two sons, R. Glenn Wiggans III and Robert J. Wiggans of Westport; four daughters, the Misses Ann L., Jane L., Susan M. and Nancy P. Wiggans, all at home and a brother, Robert L. Wiggans of Aurora.
In accordance with Dr. Wiggans' wishes, an ecumenical funeral service was held in Saugatuck Congregational Church Monday. Officiating were a Protestant pastor, a Jewish rabbi and a Catholic priest. Burial was in Assumption Cemetery, Westport. Fable Funeral Home of Westport was in charge of arrangements."
