Obituary for Dorothy McCabe Gibson

"Mrs. Dorothy McCabe Gibson, 84, of 145 Forest Home Drive died Thursday, May 5, 1977, in Lakeside Nursing Home following a long illness.
Born in Greenville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles P. McCabe and Helena E. McCabe, and the widow of Cornell University professor emeritus Anson Wright Gibson, who died Feb. 19, 1977.
Mrs. Gibson attended Pratt Institute and was graduated from Albany State Teachers College. She was employed as a teacher in the Lowville, N.Y., school system for two years, and served with the U.S. Army Medical Department in Portsmouth, England, during World War I, working as a base hospital dietician.
Mrs. Gibson was an active volunteer with the Ithaca Girl Scouts, and formerly had served as president of both the Cornell University Campus Club and the Ithaca Council of Church Women. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and was state president of the organization during 1953-54. A former member of St. John's Episcopal Church, she later became a member of Forest Home Chapel.
Mrs. Gibson is survived by two sons, A. Wright Gibson, Jr., and Philip B. Gibson; a daughter, Mrs. Lionel M. (Sally) Noel; 11 grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew.
Memorial services for both Professor and Mrs. Gibson will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, in Forest Home Chapel. The Rev. Kent E. Phillips-Huyck of Forest Home Chapel will officiate.
Private burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family."
