Obituary for Hugh Docherty Mitchell

"Hugh Docherty Mitchell of Forest Home, foreman of masons in the Department of Buildings and Grounds at Cornell and a university employe for 37 years, died unexpectedly at his home this morning, Friday, Mar. 28, 1952. He was 67.
  Mitchell, who came to Cornell in 1915 and was to have retired in June, worked all day Thursday.
  Born in Arbroath, Scotland, he came to this country Apr. 21, 1906 and to Forest Home in June of that year. Prominent in fraternal circles, he was past monarch of Balbec Grotto; past patron of Oriana Court 47, Order of Amaranth, and a member of Fidelity Lodge 51, F. & A. Masons; and Holv City Shrine 23, White Shrine of Jerusalem. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and past president of the Freeville Spiritualist Assembly. He belonged to Ithaca Local 17, Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers Union.
  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice Milne Mitchell; a daughter, Mrs. Lily Ann Newbury of Ithaca; a son, Harold Stewart Mitchell of Ithaca; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Anne Bridges of Scotland, and two brothers, William C. Mitchell of Forest Home and David W. Mitchell of Baton Rouge, La.
  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Walter A. Dodds will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery."
