Obituary for Charlotte B. Robinson

"Mrs. Charlotte B. Robinson, formerly of 400 Triphammer Rd., died Monday, Nov. 16, 1953, after a long illness. Until her retirement in 1950, she had been associated with the College of Home Economics at Cornell since 1932 and was associate professor of housing and design.
  Surviving are her husband, Prof. Emeritus Montgomery Robinson, now at Los Banos, Laguna, the Philippines; two brothers, Fred Brenan and H. S. Brenan, both of St. John, New Brunswick; a sister, Mrs. James D. Gilliatt of E. Greenwich, R.I., and several nephews and nieces.
  Private funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
  Mrs. Robinson was born in St. John and educated at Mt. Allison University, New Brunswick; Pratt Institute, and Teachers College, Columbia University. Before coming to Cornell she held various positions including director of occupational therapy for seven hospitals of the Canadian government in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island; proprietor of a craft studio in Boston, Mass., and instructor in the Art Department at Hunter College. She also organized art courses and art departments in several institutions.
  At Cornell Mrs. Robinson did resident and extension teaching in such subjects as room arrangement, upholstering, selection and use of wallpaper, color schemes, hooked rugs, and others related to home furnishings. She was the author of extension bulletins in her field."
