"Prof. Montgomery E. Robinson, 76, retired Extension teacher at Cornell University, died Saturday, July 16, 1960, in Munich, Germany of a heart attack. He had been ill since September.
Before retiring, he served as liaison officer and official host for the state colleges at Cornell, to scientists and public officials from abroad visiting Cornell on scientific missions under the Mutual Security and Point IV programs.
After retiring, professor Robinson helped to draw up the contract between the Philippine College of Agriculture and Cornell, sponsored by the Central Experiment Station and the College of Agriculture.
The contract served to aid teaching and research and to correlate the work of the experiment station with the Extension Service.
--Came Here in 1914--
He came to Cornell in 1914 the year the Smith-Lever Act establishing the Extension Service became a federal law. He started as a teacher of public speaking and English composition and also assisted in organizing Farmers' Institutes and the early Extension Service schools.
Professor Robinson later began working with the Extension Specialists to develop programs and also served as liasion between the specialists in subject matter information at Cornell and the home demonstration, 4-H Club and agricultural agents in the counties.
He was born in Brooklyn and attended Collegiate Grammar School in New York City, Cheltenham Military Academy in Ogontz, Pa., and was graduated from Princeton in 1906 with a B. Litt. degree. He later received a B.S, degree in agriculture from Cornell and also did graduate work at Princeton and Harvard.

He was a past president of the Ithaca Automobile Club; and vestryman of St. John's Episcopal Church from 1920 to 1936.
He had lived in Germany since 1955.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ina Luitgard Robinson; a daughter, Mrs. Janet R. Cantrell of 228 S. Geneva St.; a grandson; and two sisters, Miss Gertrude Robinson of St. Albans, Maine, and Miss Katherine E. Robinson of Newton Center, Mass.
His body was to be cremated, and the ashes brought to East Lawn Cemetery."

"The body of Prof. Montgomery E. Robinson, 76, of Munich, Germany, who died Saturday, July 16. 1960, was cremated Tuesday in Munich. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Ithaca, and the ashes will be buried in East Lawn Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ina Luitgard Robinson; a daughter. Mrs. Janet R. Cantrell of 228 S. Geneva St.; a grandson, Cyrus D. Cantrell III; and two sisters, Miss Gertrude Robinson of St. Albans, Maine, and Miss Katherine E. Robinson of Newton Center Mass.
His first wife, the former Anne Carpenter, lives in Ithaca. His second wife, the former Charlotte Brennan, is deceased."
