The Rothschild residence is one of Ithaca's famous landmarks. It was originally built by Miss Julia Whiton, an aunt of Frederic J. Whiton, well known local capitalist. The Whitons had their old family homestead on the site. Miss Whiton replaced the original building with the present handsome structure."
