Description
Two buildings housing The Children's Home, 518 W Seneca St and 520 W Seneca St previously existed on this spot.  The current building was built in 1909.
"The Children's Home was founded in October, 1885, under the Ladies' Benevolent Union Society.  It was given two houses and lots on West Seneca Street by Edward S. Esty, and he also made an endowment of $5,000.  Mrs. Elizabeth W. Beebe, then city missionary, was also one of the founders, and lived for some years in one of the two original buildings.... The two houses, which were the gift of Mr. Esty, were outgrown, and in 1909 the present house was erected."
