"Ex-GLF Official Dies at 74
  Francis O. Underwood, 74, of 1024 Hanshaw Rd., Cayuga Heights, died in Tompkins County Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1968 following an apparent heart attack.
  He retired in 1959 as manager of the garden seed department of G.L.F.
  Mr. Underwood was born in Mayville [NY], son of the late George H. and Hattie BeauJean Underwood. He was graduated from LaFayette High School in Buffalo and received the B.S. degree in agriculture from Cornell University in 1918. He did graduate work in Chicago University and Michigan State University.
  For several years, he was in Extension service as a county agriculture agent in Nassau County and later was an assistant professor in the State College of Agriculture at Cornell.
  He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, the Masons, Acacia Fraternity, and Rotary Club.
  He is survived by his wife, Erma Hollen Underwood; a son, John F. Underwood of Findley, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Fleck of Harper Woods, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, E. Victor Underwood of Ithaca and Harry C. Underwood of Hollywood, Calif.
  Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Methodist Church. The Rev. Sheldon Stephenson will officiate. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery."

Note: GLF was the Cooperative Grange League Federation Exchange, founded in 1920 and headquartered in Ithaca, New York.  Merged into Agway in 1964.
