Obituary for Maude Vann Howe (died Apr 5 1922)
The Ithaca Journal, Apr 6 1922, P. 5, Col. 1

"Despondent over the death of her mother and in a weakened mental condition, Mrs. Maude Vann Howe, 34, wife of Fred Howe, of Erin, N. Y., committed suicide about 8 o'clock last night by throwing herself in front of a fast-moving Lehigh Valley passenger train while it was passimg the Vann family homestead at Willow Creek. She was instantly killed. Her tragic death caused double bereavement in the Vann family, as her mother, Mrs. George H. Vann, who died last Tuesday, will be buried tomorrow afternoon. There will now be a double funeral for the mother and daughter.
...
Mrs. Howe was born on June 19, 1888 and had, until her marrlage, always resided at Willow Creek where she was well known. She leaves her husband and four children, two sons and two daughters, the oldest being six years of age.
She is also survived by her father, George H. Vann; four brothers, B. I. and William T. of Willow Creek, David of Penn Yan, and Theo of Warsaw; and one sister, Mrs. Herman Atwater of Willow Creek."
