Obituary for Robert Phillips Ludlum

"ARNOLD, MD. - Robert Phillips Ludlum, 78, of Arnold, Md., died Monday, March 23, 1987, at Anne Arundel Hospital in Annapolis, Md.
He was born in Brooklyn, a son of the late Dr. Walter D. and Edith Ludlum.
Mr. Ludlum graduated from Cornell University in 1930 and received a Ph.D. in American history from Cornell in 1935. He was president of Blackburn College, Carlinville, Ill., from 1949 to 1969, and he retired from the presidency of Anne Arundel Community College, Arnold, Md., in 1976.
Mr. Ludlum was the author of two textbooks, This is America's Story, and American Government.
He was a long-time Rotarian and belonged to numerous professional groups. He spent many summers in Ithaca.
Mr. Ludlum's first wife, Ruth Smith Ludlum, who was a native of Ithaca, died in 1975.
He is survived by his second wife, Joyce Irene Ludlum of Arnold, Md.; two daughters, Susan Ludlum King of Syracuse, and Margaret D. Ludlum of Seattle; two stepchildren, Stanley Hall of Silver Springs, Md., and Candy Carter of San Antonio, Texas, and three grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, in East Lawn Cemetery, Ithaca. A memorial service will be held later in Maryland."
