Marriage of Muriel Elizabeth Andrews and Louis E. Wangler

"At 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 1948, in the First Baptist Church, Miss Muriel Elizabeth Andrews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Andrews of Forest Home Drive, became the bride of Louis E. Wangler, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wangler of Albany. The Rev. A. H. Boutwell, pastor, performed the ceremony in a setting of baskets of white gladioli and lighted tapers with a background of ferns and palms. George Hathaway, organist, played traditional wedding music and accompanied Miss Ann Haag, soloist, in "Oh Promise Me" and "Because."
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white bridal satin. The fitted bodice with wide bertha collar of hand made Belgian lace and long sleeves was fashioned with a long peplum train. Her fingertip veil was fastened to a seed pearl tiara and she carried a bouquet of white roses and gardenias.
Mrs. Virginia A. Hayes of Albany, the bride's sister, was matron of honor. Her gown was of yellow embossed organdy with off the shoulder neckline and short peplum over a full skirt. Miss Georgiana Westervelt of Forest Home, the bride's cousin, and Miss Doris Mayo of South Lansing, were bridesmaids. ...
Mrs. Andrews, mother of the bride, wore a two piece black dress with a corsage of pink roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a black dress with a corsage of white gardenias.
James Haag of Brooklyn, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man and the ushers were Llewellyn Hayes and William Wangler, a cousin of the bridegroom, both of Albany, Ralph Westervelt of Forest Home, a cousin of the bride, and Richard Ferguson of Ithaca.
After a reception in the church parlor a buffet supper was held at the home of the bride's parents for the bridal party, relatives and out-of-town guests. ...
The bride was graduated from Ithaca High School, Class of 1944, and from Albany Business College and has been employed at the Ithaca Photo Supply for the last 2 years. Mr. Wangler was graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Albany and from New York Merchant Marine College. He served as an officer with the Merchant Marine for 5 years.
Prenuptial events for the bride were a personal shower given by Mrs. Mary Yeno and Miss Mary John; a variety shower by Mrs. Ralph Westervelt; a variety shower by Mrs. Lou Corcoran and Mrs. Betty Slater and a tea by Miss Laura Bryant.
Mr. and Mrs. Wangler will make their home in Albany."
