'Local institutions engaged in educational, health building, and religious activities will benefit from the philanthropy of Earl G. Northrop of Forest Home, who died Jan. 23. His will has been admitted to probate in Surrogate's Court. The estate consists of personal and real property, each valued at more than $1,000, the probate papers state.
Cornell University was bequeathed $5,000 "as a memorial to my deceased sister, Louella Northrop, who graduated there in 1901, to be expended, principal and interest, for any purpose as said University shall at any time determine."
Other bequests included the Reconstruction Home, $2,000; Cayuga Preventorium, $500; First Methodist Church, Forest Home, $1,000; and the Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association, $2,000.
Also $150 to Virginia Andrews, Forest Home: $1,000 each to Charles S. Northrop of Woodstock, Ill., and Florence Allen, Freeport, L.I., both relatives.
The residue of the estate will go in equal shares to four other relatives: James W. Northrop, Lake Bluff, Ill; Earl H. Northrop, Park Falls. Wis.; Helen E. Evans, Chicago, Ill., and Frances N. Rawlins, Evanston, Ill. Edward W. Rawlins of Evanston, Ill., was named executor.'
