Obituary for Mrs. Rose Reed Sheldon, wife of Herbert C. Sheldon The Ithaca Journal, Jun 18 1938, P. 3, Col. 5. "Mrs. Rose Reed Sheldon, 78, wife of
H. C. Sheldon of 1001 Triphammer Rd., died Friday, June 17, 1938, at Conklin Sanatorium. Mrs. Sheldon suffered a broken hip last November when she fell in the State St. business section. She was born June 9, 1860, in the Town of Lisle and lived there until 1901 when the family moved to Ithaca.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Sheldon is survived by two daughters, Miss
Pearl Sheldon of Ithaca, Mrs. John L. McElroy of Fort William McKinley, Philippine Islands; four grandsons, Evan H, and Bert T. Sheldon of Ithaca, John S. and Rexford E. McElroy of Fort William McKinley, and a brother, Ray Reed of Norwich. A son, Prof. E. Sheldon of Pittsburgh, died in 1918.
The funeral will be private, with interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery."
