Marriage of Phyllis Mae Horton to Lawrence Parker on April 1, 1945

"Miss Phyllis Mae Horton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Horton of Lake Rd., was married to Lawrence Parker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Parker of Groton, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Rev. Henry G. Budd, pastor of the First Methodist Church, performed the ceremony in the church, decorated with lilies and palms.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Miss Luella Shepherd of Ithaca. The bride's outfit was a powder blue suit with which she had white accessories and a corsage of white roses. Dressed in a red outfit, Miss Shepherd wore white accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Clifford Axtell of Ithaca was best man.
A reception for the immediate families and a few friends was held at the Old Hundred.
On their return from a wedding trip of unannounced destination, Mr. and Mrs. Parker will reside at their new home in Groton.
A graduate of Ithaca High School, Cascadilla School, and the Practical School of Nursing in Chicago, the bride does first aid work at the Morse Chain Company, Mr. Parker, who has received a medical discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps, is employed by the Arctic Ice Cream Company in Ithaca."
