“Mrs. Florence Alston, 48, of 526 W. Green St., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1943, after a long illness. She was a member of the Daughters of Cayuga Temple 54 of the Colored Elks and of the Radio Council.
She is survived by a son, Private John Alston of New York City, and her mother, Mrs. Minnie Collier Martin of Ithaca.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in St. James AME Zion Church.
Interment will be in the family plot in Lakeview Cemetery.”
