“John W. Collier of 526 West Green street, for 20 years janitor at the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity 720 University avenue, died at the Tompkins County Hospital at Taughannock Falls yesterday, after a long illness.
He was a member of Herman Lodge, 30, Knights of Pythias; James Reese Uniform Rank, 12, and Salt City Lodge, 166 of I.B.P.Q.E. of W. Syracuse. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie Collier; a step-daughter, Mrs. Florence Alstok [Alston]; a grand-son of this city; his grandmother; one brother, Benjamin Collier, and one sister, Rose Collier of Atlanta, Ga.
The funeral will be held from the A.M.E. Zion church at 9:30 o’clock Sunday evening. Rev. J. C. Walters, assisted by Rev. H. J. Johnson, will officiate. The remains will be taken to Lake View cemetery, College Park, Ga., for interment. Leaving here Sunday night.”
