Obituary for Robert S. Long

"CORTLAND- Robert S. Long, 67, of 12 Vernon Drive, Cortland, died Wednesday. March 7. 1990 at Cortland Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Long was born Feb. 9, 1923 at Allegan. Michigan the son of the late William H. Sr. and Mynette Graf Long.
He was a graduate of Ithaca High School and Broome Tech. He served in the Army Medical Corp. as a Sergeant during WW II. After the war he was employed by NYSEG for 35 years. At the time of his retirement he was Supervisor of Gas Operations. Mr. Long was a member of Cortland City Post No. 489 American Legion and was a life master bridge player in the American Contract Bridge League. He also was active in baseball, softball, golf, bowling in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Ithaca and Cortland. He was widely known for his dozens of drawings of Presidents, athletes, and Hollywood personalities. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cortland.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Helen Stilwell Long, of Cortland. A brother William H. Long. Jr. of Ithaca. Also surviving are a niece and several nephews."
