Cornell Names Bruckner Poultry Head, starting July 1, 1942.
The Ithaca Journal, Jun 10 1942, P.3 (with photo)

"Dr. J. H. Bruckner has been appointed head of the Poultry Department at Cornell, after serving the past two years as acting head, Dean Carl E. Ladd of the College of Agriculture announced today.
At the age of 37, Dr. Bruckner takes responsibility July 1 for management of the oldest and largest poultry department in any university in the country. He is a graduate of Purdue University, 1930, and earned his Ph.D degree at Cornell in 1935.
The new head has owned and managed chickens since the age of 12 and has worked on commercial poultry farms and in commercial hatcheries. He culled poultry for the college's extension service during two summers, inspected breeding flocks for New York State Official Cooperative Poultry Breeders, and also worked at the state egg-laying tests. One summer he operated a poultry plant of 3,000 layers, and for two years was in charge of the State Conservation Department's game farm at Ithaca.
...
Dr. Bruckner is the third poultry head in Cornell history, succeeding Prof. James E. Rice, now retired, and Professor F. B. Hutt, now connected with zoology and animal genetics at Cornell.
Dr. Bruckner is a native of Anaconda, Mont."
