"The wedding of Miss June Westervelt of 31 Massachusetts Ave., Boston, Mass., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Westervelt of 115 Halcyon Hill, and John Warren George, son of Dr. John J. George and Mrs. George of Highland Park, N.J., took place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 1957, in Arlington St. Church, Boston. The Rev. Arthur H. Tripp officiated at the ceremony.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father wore a slate gray street length dress and a corsage of yellow roses.
  Miss Georgie Anne Westervelt of Syracuse, the bride's sister and Rolf S. Krinde of Cambridge, Mass., attended the couple. The ushers were William W. Westervelt of Hartford, Conn., and Ralph E. Westervelt of Montreal, Canada.
  The wedding breakfast for the bridal party and immediate families was held at the home of Miss Wilhelmina Eaton.
  Mrs, George received a B.S. degree from Boston University School of Nursing and is a member of the staff of the Boston Visiting Nurses Assn.
  The bridegroom received a B.A. degree from Princeton University and an M.S. degree from the University of North Carolina and is now completing work toward a Ph.D. degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is associated with the Arthur D. Little Industrial consulting firm.
  Mr. and Mrs. George will reside at Apt. 2, 10 Wendall St., Cambridge, Mass."

"AMHERST. MA - June Westervelt George. 76. died at home surrounded by her family on September 8. 2005. a victim of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Born on July 1, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Walter E. and Georgiana R. Westervelt of Ithaca. NY.
  A 1947 graduate of Ithaca High School, she trained in nursing at the Worcester City Hospital and received a B.S. degree from Boston University and an M.Ed. degree from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst).
  After marriage, June and her family lived in Colorado for several years, moving to Amherst in 1961.
  Later she began working in Northampton, MA for HCAC and Head Start children's programs. In Amherst she had been associated with the Town Health Department as the secondary schools nurse and completed her nursing career as staff nurse at the Applewood Retirement Village.
  Mrs. George had a broad interest in women's rights action groups and was involved in local government matters as a Town Meeting Member, as a past Chair of the Human Resources Funding Committee, served as Chair of the Munson Memorial Library Trustees, and was a board member of the Friends of the Jones Library. She was a strong supporter of environmental issues, a ridge-walker and trail adopter for the Amherst Conservation Commission. and a longtime member of the Appalachian Mountain Club. A past president of the Amherst Garden Club and a Master Gardener. she was known for her flower gardens. She was a member of the Amherst Shade Tree Committee, the League of Women Voters, and a former member of the Amherst Club. She was also active in the Thursday Club of South Amherst and served as a docent for the Massachusetts Center for Renaissance Studies.
  Her travels took her to Taiwan and Europe, living for a year in Bergen, Norway, and for a six-month period in Innsbruck, Austria.
  She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John W. George: two sons, Alan W. George of Wilmette, IL. and Andrew D. George of Belchertown, MA: a daughter, Anne Rebecca Kurber of Greenfield, MA; a sister, Georgia Westervelt Anderson of Amherst; a brother, William W. Westervelt of East Granby, CT: and four grandchildren. A brother, Ralph E. Westervelt, died earlier."
