"Mrs. Florence E. Totten, 69, of 209 S Corn St. died... April 23, 1970... She was a member of St. James AME Zion Church for 36 years, sang in its choir, was a member of its Missionary Workers and represented her church on the Ithaca Council of Church Women. She had been president of the Council.
She was a past ruler of Cayuga Temple Daughter Elks in Ithaca. Mrs. Totten was a life member and past grand district deputy of Grand Temple Daughter Elks. She was a member and past ruler of Elizabeth Kimbough Council of Past Daughter Rulers of Central New York, Independent BPO Elks.
For many years, she was a cook at some of the Cornell University fraternities. She was a member and former director of South Side Community Center, and a member of NAACP.
Mrs. Totten was the daughter of the late James and Grace Jones. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward Scott of Ithaca..."
