“Mrs. Charles R. Hardy of Auburn announces the engagement of her sister, Miss Cornelia El Vera Irvin of 119 Cleveland Ave., to Sergeant David C. Carter, USA, of Highpoint, N.C. Miss Irvin is the daughter of the late Toney L. and Vera L. Irvin of this city.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Ithaca High School and of Livingstone College, Salisbury, N.C., and she attended Cornell University. She has taught for some time in the Virginia and South Carolina public schools.
Sergeant Carter attended Lutheran College, Greensboro, N. C., and Tuskegee, Ala. He is now stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. No date has been set for the wedding.”
