"DeForest Fairchild Christiance, 67, for many years a partner in the drug firm of Christiance & Dudley, died at his home in Coral Gables, Fla., Tuesday, Mar. 25, 1941. He was a brother-in-law of L. E. Dofflemyer of 114 W. Buffalo St.
Born at Harford in 1874, a son of George and Mary E. Christiance, he had. been a resident of this section until he and Mrs. Christiance moved to Florida more than 15 years ago.
Mr. Christiance attended a pharmacy school in New York City after graduating from Ithaca High School, and obtained his license as a pharmacist in 1894. He was employed as such at the C. C. Platt Drug Company at 216 E. State St.
In 1900 Mr. Christiance and his brother-in-law, Mr. Dofflemyer, purchased the drug business from the Platt company, and conducted the business for several years under the firm name of The Cornell Pharmacy.
Mr. Dofflemyer later sold his interest to the late Frank T. Dudley, and the business then was conducted under the firm name of Christiance & Dudley, until Mr. Christiance moved to Cocoanut Grove, Fla....
Mr. and Mrs. Christiance were married on June 4, 1894, and were the parents of one son, DeForest Lewis Christiance, who was fatally injured in an automobile accident near Coconut Grove in 1926."
