Obituary for Grant Cole of 421 N Cayuga St. (died Apr 28 1933), The Ithaca Journal, Apr 28 1933, P. 9

"Grant Cole, well-known throughout Tompkine County for many years as a hay and grain dealer, died at the Tompkina County Memorial Hospital early today after a brief illness. He was 68 years old and resided at 421 North Cayuga Street.
Mr. Cole was taken to the hospital for medical observation early this week. His condition was such that an operation could not be performed and he failed rapidly.
Born in the Town of Ulysses July 20, 1864, Mr. Cole became interested in the hay and grain business about 26 years ago and came to Ithaca to open a warehouse.
In 1910 Mr. Cole became a partner of T. A. Mandeville under the firm name of Cole & Mandeville, hay and grain dealers. Three years later the firm purchased the William Davis feed store on South Cayuga Street which was conducted for another year when Mr. Coie sold his interest in the business to A. J. Mandeville, a brother of his former partner.
Mr. Cole returned to his hay and grain business and for many years was one of the leading hay and grain buyers and shippers in this section of the state.
He was a member of the New York State Hay Association and served one year as president. He was also a member of the National Hay and Grain Association and more recently was a member of the New York State committee on grain problems.
He was also a member of the Ulysses Grange and the First Methodist Episcopal Church. Although he retired from business three years ago, Mr. Cole retained an office at 104 West State Street and continued his business on a smaller scale.
Besides his widow, Margaret Cole, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Mintz; two grand-daughtere, Valerie Cole of Paterson, N. J., and Joan Mintz of this city.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later."
