"Conduct Funeral Of Mrs. J. G. Schurman
Mount Kisco, Nov. 24—Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Munro Schurman, wife of Dr. Jacob Gould Schurman, former ambassador to Germany and former president of Cornell University, who died on Wednesday, were held in St. Matthew's Protestant Episcopal Church in Bedford Sunday afternoon by Rev. Dr. Arthur Ketchum, the. rector. Interment took place in St. Matthew's Churchyard.
There were many floral tributes, including a wreath sent by Dr. Paul Schwartz, acting German consul general, on behalf of his government.
Six of Dr. and Mrs. Schurman's seven children were present, Miss Barbara Rose Schurman, Mrs. Catherine Schurman Ware, Mrs. Helen Schurman Magruder, Jacob Gould Schurman, jr., Robert Schurman and George M. Schurman. The absent one was Mrs. Dorothy McHugh, who is in Peking with her husband, assistant American naval attache. Among other relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. George W. Schurman.
Friends and relatives of the family who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. George L. Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard E. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Holbrook Cushman, Mrs. C. I. Durham of Ithaca and Mr. and Mrs. Louis May."
