The Ithaca Journal, Aug 17 1934, P. 7, Col. 3.

'Twenty-eight Scouts enjoyed the last Girl Scout Day Camp of the season Wednesday at Taughannock State Park. Each patrol chose a game they wished to play during the game period. Everything from "Teakettle" to "Tennessee" were played. Then came the most fun of the whole day - swimming. Mrs. E. M. Hile, a qualified American Red Cross life saver examiner, was in charge of the group. The following girls won the beginners' button: Mary MeCurdy, Clella Smith, Barbara Luce, Peggy Peters, Helen Knapp. Marjorie Daugherty, June Norris, Doris Krahmer, Marilyn Joiner, Daisy Kimball and Mary Elizabeth Townley won their swimmers' buttons.
After lunch it was so cool that the girls exercised by doing folk dances of the Civil War period, "Shew Fly" and "Here We Go Round the Mountain." Story hour was next with an exciting mystery story of Nancy and the Cave. Charades acted out by each patrol furnished amusement and then the girls made spatter prints of leaves.
The following girls attended Day Camp: Jeanette Williams, Becky Morrison, Peggy Peters, Barbara Luce, Jeanette Baker, Marguerite Bliss, Roberta Fales, Anne Kennard, Ruth and Lucille Wagner, Marjorie Daugherty, Betty Whyte, Helen Jane Christie, Daisy Kimble, Mary McCurdy, Doris Krahmer, Mary Elizabeth Townley, Clella Smith, Helen Knapp, Marilyn Joiner, Catherine Browne, Mary Gridley, Sister and Lorraine Hile, June Norris, Eleanor Goodman, Doris Reed and Marion Mahool.'
