"Geraldine Merlice "Cookie" Powers, wife of the late David F. Powers, died Thursday, June 12, 1997 after a long illness.  Mrs. Powers was 84. Born in Filmore, Saskatchewan, Mrs. Powers received an RN degree from Regina General Hospital and the practiced at the Mayo Clinic before coming to work in Ithaca at Tompkins General Hospital.  Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Cooke, she one of seven children."
