"Charlotte, NC - John Robert Pakan, 98, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his residence after a short illness.
  Born in Green Island [NY], he was son of the late Stephen Pakan and Susan Dubrava Pakan and husband of the late Marguerite Wilder Pakan. He was raised in Poestenkill [NY] and resided in Clifton Park [NY] for 44 years. John was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1943 and Cornell University in Economics Marketing, class of 1953.
  John was the Business Manager of the Research Center, then Purchasing Manager for Schenectady International for 17 years retiring in 1992. Prior to that he worked several years on the family farm in Poestenkill and at Alleghany Ludlum, Titanium Metal Corp., IDS in investments and the General Dynamics Electric Boat Company building the Trident submarine.
  He was a member of Acacia Fraternity at Cornell, Empire State Aerosciences Museum, Noble Callahan American Legion Troy, Shenendehowa United Methodist Church and Matthews, NC United Methodist Church.  John was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid reader, especially of US History and scientific inventions and was also a social member of the Clifton Park - Halfmoon Emergency Corp."
