"John C. Wye, 73, of 117 Cleveland Ave, died today, Nov. 7, 1947, in Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a member and chorister of the senior choir of the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church and a member of the Men of Zion of that church and a former member of Forest City Lodge 180, Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Wye, and a daughter, Stella Reed of Ithaca."
