158 East State St. Historic name: Finch Block 

"Four-story, three-bay wide, five-bay deep, painted brick Romanesque commercial building at northwest comer of North Tioga Street; center entrance storefront with cast iron comer pilasters, frieze, and columns; upper stories retain round-arched windows with stone sills, cast iron window hoods with scrolled or floral stops, and historic two-over-two sash; cast iron rope moldings surround the window frames; on side elevation, arched windows in southernmost bay, but otherwise segmentally arched with cast iron hoods; entablature consists of brick frieze with recessed diamond motifs and arcaded corbels, dentils; scrolled metal brackets and comice under deep eaves. Built 1868.

Historical note: The Finch Block was built for James B. Taylor and has housed several bookstores and stationers since the 1860s. Dudley Finch and J.B. Taylor’s bookstore. Finch and Apgar Booksellers, Taylor and Carpenter, the Comer Book Store, and Profit Sharing Book Store have all occupied the site."
