Obituary in the Ithaca Journal, May 05 1964
"Carl O. Dickens, 76, of 116 E. State St., an employee of Cornell University in dual capacities since 1906, died Monday, May 4, 1964, at Tompkins County Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Dickens retired in February 1959 after serving for 51 years as foreman of heating and plumbing in the College of Agriculture.
He never retired from gate-tending duties for which he was known to thousands of Cornellians and townspeople. He began at Percy Field in 1912 and his last service to the Cornell Athletic Assn. was last Saturday at Schoellkopf Field at the Cornell-Pennsylvania track meet."
