Obituary for Mrs. Alice Bell Boothroyd in The Ithaca Journal, Jun 9 1965

"Mrs. Alice Bell Boothroyd, 91, of 311 Roat St. died there today, June 9, 1965. She was the widow of Prof. Samuel L. Boothroyd.

Born Jan 31, 1874, in Dover, N.H., she was the daughter of Mary and John Bell. Her paternal grandfather had been a U.S. senator and governor of New Hampshire.

Mrs. Boothroyd had been a school teacher in Colorado, was a member of the First Congregational Church and a charter member of Ithaca Senior Citizens.

She is survived by two sons, Robert S. Boothroyd of Ithaca and Philip Boothroyd of Sparta, N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. Lucy B. Abbe of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Alice Hemstreet, Baton Rouge, La.; 12 grandchil-dren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Benson of Los Angeles, Calif.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Forest Home Chapel. Van Order Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
