Bette Bortz Updyke, 82, of 101 Mary Lane, Ithaca, and formerly of Cortland, died Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca.

She was born in Ithaca the daughter of the late Harry and Nina Bortz, and was the widow of James I. Updyke.  Bette is survived by her sons, Kim J (Sue) Updyke of Sarasota FL and Kevin Updyke of Cortland; her daughter, Kristin Schreffler of Cortland.
