"Plans for a new filling station and parking area at the foot of East Hill were revealed today with the announcement by Jospeh Conley, proprietor of a Socony station at 325 E. State St., of the purchase of the property he now occupies and that immediately adjoining.
Workmen today were engaged in demolishing the old dwelling at 321 E. State St., for several years occupied by a Chinese laundry. Mr. Conley has just acquired this property from Leland D. VanRensselaer and also the property on which his present station is located from the P. D. Conley estate.
He will lease the property to the Standard Oil Company, which will erect a modern filling station and lubritorium of colonial-type design, it was announced, and he in turn will operate the station along with a parking area which will accommodate up to 70 cars, the largest parking area in the business section outside of the city parking area, he said."
