This two-story open gable frame house, built around 1893 by Alexander MacGillivray, features a front cross gable facing Judd Falls Road, and a three bay front porch with Doric columns and balustrade. It has clapboard siding and one-over-one double hung windows throughout. The gable ends feature decorative stickwork. At the rear of the property, the land drops off steeply to Cornell's Mundy Wildflower Gardens and Fall Creek.
MacGillivray purchased the lot from Henry Preswick in 1893 and built the house. It was purchased in 1912 by George Tailby, one of the first superintendents of Cornell University's College of Agriculture farms. It remained in the hands of the Tailby family until 1972. The resident in the 1950 census, Zella Dennis was his daughter. The house was extensively remodeled and modernized by the new owners in 1972 and the interior was renovated again in the 1980s. A barn has been converted into a garage.
