Description
House located in an area of Forest Home (now residential) where there were once a number of mill buildings. This house originally was the Hazen Knitting Mill ... producing fine ladies' hosiery. The small mill building was rebuilt as a residence some time after 1850 in the Italianate-Victorian style. The fine staircase and interior woodwork were added after the building became a dwelling.

According to https://www.fhia.org/free-hollow-to-forest-home-appendix/ the house was owned by D. Comfort in 1866.  The house appears on the map of Free Hollow in the 1866 Tompkins County Atlas.

Included in Forest Home Historic District with USN 10906.000062. To access the Building-Structure Inventory Form (sometimes referred to as the "Blue Form"), follow these Lookup Instructions.
