Description
This residence is a good example of vernacular, turn-of-the-century, domestic architecture. It is a two-story open gable cottage, featuring a clapboard finish on both stories, shingled gable ends, extended eaves, and a shed-roofed front porch with spindles, posts, and a latticework base. A two-story enclosed porch extends to the rear, and a side wing attaches the house to a one-and-a-half story garage.

The rear facade of the house was substantially altered around 1920, when its porches were enclosed. At that time, some of the existing interior spaces that adjoined the new enclosure were also changed, and central heating was installed. In the 1970s, the kitchen and baths were modernized, and the attic was converted to a living space. In 1986, a room and a one-and-a-half story attached garage were added at the rear of the east facade.

Just south of this property are lands belonging to Cornell University which include natural woodlands and cultivated gardens that are part of the Cornell Botanic Gardens.

Included in Forest Home Historic District with USN 10906.000032. To access the Building-Structure Inventory form (sometimes referred to as the "Blue Form"), and from which some of the details above come, including the approximate year built, follow these Lookup Instructions.
