“Ithaca Loan Finance Co. has bought the old J. C. Stowell wholesale grocers building next door to the Ithaca Journal and will start soon to demolish the historic structure to make way for a modern, two-story office building.
The structure includes one building which is part of the Journal building (the two were originally one erected by John C. Stowell in 1872) and the old three-story building to the west. That latter structure was built…as the Hintermeister [sic] Piano and Organ Factory….
The building, 58x132 feet, occupies 127-129 W. State St.”

“New Building Planned For State St.,” Ithaca Journal, November 6, 1957, 2.

“Demolition work continues on buildings in the 100 block of W. State St. to make room for a new office building being put up by Ithaca Loan Finance Co., Inc. Both buildings visible will be torn down.”
