106 W State St
"Three-story painted brick building; street-level facade retains remodeled display window storefront with central recessed entrance; second and third-story fenestration retains single three-part wide windows with historic two- over-two sash and a continuous stone sill set in slightly recessed segmental arch flanked by recessed vertical recessed brick detail; square-headed second-story windows separated from third-story windows by a decorative wood spandrel panel with diagonal design; undecorated parapet; Remodeled facade of an earlier building, thought to have been built 1884;
Historical note: This building is located on the former site of the Columbian Inn (1816), the notorious site of Ithaca’s first documented murder. Guy C. Clark killed his wife in 1831, and was publicly hanged; the stigma caused the Columbian Inn to eventually fold. 102-104 West State Street (1847) originally housed Hibbard’s general store, until the City Club moved into the building about 1900. At that time, the two buildings were combined to create a large third-story meeting space and to expand the first-story commercial space, (see also 102-104 West State St.)"
