"The High School building, opened in 1914, housed not only high school students, but also the grammar school and elementary school pupils who normally would have attended school at the site of the Central school, which burned in 1912.... The Central elementary school was erected on the site of the original Central school on North Albany street. It admitted pupils for the first time in September, 1923."
