“A minimum bid of $5,500 was sufficient today for H. F. Gerkin to acquire the city-owned house and lot at 345 Giles St.
Gerkin was the only bidder on an irregular lot of approximately 53 by 140 feet and a two-story frame structure recently renovated. It was the property of the Water Department which formerly used it to house the Van Natta’s Dam pumping station electrician and his family. The sale was authorized by the Department of Public Works and approved by the Common Council.
City Clerk Floyd H. Springer was the auctioneer. He called for a 10 per cent down payment with the balance due in 20 days or upon delivery of the deed.”
