“In late 1915, the Ithaca Gas Light and Ithaca Electric Light & Power companies were consolidated as the Ithaca Gas & Electric Corporation. and by the end of the following year, the new company was given a new architectural image. The gable-roofed frame building at the northeast comer of South Cayuga and East Green streets, dating from the early nineteenth century, was replaced in 1916 by a modem, three-story office building, its walls largely glazed between brick piers and its low-pitched roof concealed by parapet walls.”
