Obituary of "Horace Dewey Belknap," Ithaca Daily Journal, September 19, 1910, 3
"Horace Dewey Belknap, aged 90 years, died Saturday night at 8:30 o'clock at the family residence at 416 North Cayuga street.... Mr. Belknap was born in Oswego county on April 6, 1820. He received his early schooling in that vicinity and moved to Ithaca in 1866. He followed the occupation of barrel maker at the factory of the late Herman V. Bostwick for a period of 35 years.
He was a widower and was known as a home man, being very devoted to his children. He is survived by three daughters, Almira, Lovilla and Gertrude..."

"Horace Belknap, Miss Belknap’s father, came to Ithaca in the spring of 1866 from Syracuse and secured employment with Wilmot & Bostwick, who had a barrel factory where the H. J. Bool Furniture Company is now located at 117 E. Clinton. The next year he brought his family here and they located on South Cayuga Street…. "
