Arthur Benjamin Wellar, retired banker of 319 N Geneva St, Ithaca, died Feb 15, 1949 in Tompkins County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
"Mr. Wellar retired Jan. 1, 1937, as vicepresident of the Tompkins County Trust Company after 42 years of service in the bank and its predecessor, the Ithaca Trust Company. He continued to serve as a member of the board of directors, and last Jan. 19 was reelected for another 3-year term.

On May 1, 1894, Mr. Wellar joined the Ithaca Trust Company as a bookkeeper and teller.

Mr. Wellar became successively cashier and treasurer of Ithaca Trust and when the company was merged with the Tompkins County National Bank he was named vice president of the new Tompkins County Trust Company.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred N. Anibal, and a grandson, Arthur Wellar Anibal, both of Rochester."
