Obituary for Ernest A. Dahmen Jr.

"Ernest A. Dahmen Jr., 52, of 117 Elmwood. Ave. died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack today at his summer camp on Jersey Hill Rd., Town of Danby.
A former city of Ithaca attorney for eight years, Mr. Dahmen was chairman of the state Board of Standards and Appeals to which he had been appointed in July 1960.
A native of Ithaca, he received the A.B. degree from Cornell University in 1938 and the law degree in 1941. He had been an attorney for an insurance company in Chicago, III. before moving to Albany for a time and then coming to Ithaca where he was affiliated with the Allan H.
Treman law firm.
He was a past secretary of the Tompkins County Bar Assn. and had been an assistant counsel in the state Department of Labor.
During World War II, he was a chief warrant officer with the Army for two years in the Judge Advocate Generals Department.
Instrumental in reorganizing the Youth Republicans' Club in Tompkins County, he had been its first president after reorganizing. He had been a state director in the Junior Chamber of Commerce and was a past president of the Cornell Club of Ithaca.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Stanton Dahmen; two daughters, Mrs. Clark Neily of Webster, Texas and Cindy Dahmen, at home; three sons, Airman 1st Class Craig E. Dahmen at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, Jeffrey in California and Douglas Dahman at home; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Ruby Dahmen of Ithaca; a brother, Capt. Harry Dahmen, U.S. Naval Reserve in Omaha, Neb. and a nephew."
