Obituary for Ellen Sullivan
The Ithaca Journal, Jan 17 1955, P. 5, Col. 2

"Mrs. Ellen Sullivan, 85, of 810 E. Shore Rd [see Note below], widow of Frank Sullivan, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 1955, in Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.
She is survived by five nieces, Mrs. Rose Stewart of Ithaca, Mrs. Francis Sweeney, Newark; Mrs. Richard Smith, and Miss Cecilia Buckley of Auburn, Mrs. Donald Sherman of New York City, and four nephews, Clare Sullivan and the Rev. Irving Sullivan of Auburn and William and James Buckley of Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in the Herson Funeral Home, 110 S. Geneva St., followed by a High Mass of Requiem in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 9.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home."

Note:  No address 810 East Shore Drive appears in Ithaca City Directories from 1953 (the first year the street was changed from Lake Road to East Shore Drive) to 1956. All the houses with 8xx numbers are on the east side of the road, away from the lake.  However, there is evidence that Ellen Sullivan owned a property in 1923 that would have the address 910 East Shore Drive when she died.  See document/instrument BF024293-001 (filed 11/24/1923) in the Tompkins County Clerk Office.

Auction Sale of property of Ellen Sullivan on East Shore Drive to be on June 15, 1955
The Ithaca Journal, Fri May 27 1955, P. 17

"AUCTION SALE
Property and Household Goods

The Tompkins County Department of Public Welfare and Mr. Harry Hamilton, Attorney for the Estate of Ellen Sullivan, will offer the following property and household goods for sale at public auction on Wednesday evening. June 10, 1955, at the site of the property. Sale of household goods will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the real property will be sold at 8:00 p.m.
Terms of the real estate property are 10% at the time of the sale and the balance within 30 days on delivery of the deed and Abstract of the Title. The property will be sold to the highest responsible bidder unless in the judgment of the Commissioner it shall be in the interest of the public to reject all bids. Household goods: Cash.
The property is situated on the lake road known as East Shore Drive, south of the roadside food stand, and beginning about 220 feet north of the center of Cayuga Street Extension. The lot is quadrangle shaped. with a frontage of about 79½ feet and extending back to a point at the railroad tracks. The house is of frame construction and contains about eight rooms. The house is wired for electricity but has no other modern conveniences. For complete description, the property is the same as deeded to the Tompkins County. Department of Public Welfare by Ellen Sullivan, dated March 16. 1951, and recorded in Liber 339 of Deeds at Page 475.
Household goods include two marble top pieces. tables, beds, large kerosene space heater and general furnishings.
For inspection, the house will be open Saturday, June 4th, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. or contact Lester E. Mattocks, 3461, Ext. 58 or 8254."

Notes:
  1. The description of this property as being south of the foodstand (which was at 912 East Shore Drive in 1953 Ithaca City Directory) and north of the 1953 location of the North Cayuga St extension indicates that the house number of the former Sullivan property was either 906 or 910, with 910 being more likely. The address 908 East Shore Dr was never used.
  2. The houses numbered 904, 906, 910, and 912, were all demolished circa 1989 in preparation for building the new center for the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, which was given the address 904 East Shore Dr.
