“Mrs. T. J. Barker of 205 South Hill Terrace, who died there at the age of 80 last Saturday, was prominent in community and civic affairs during her active years.
She was a commissioner of public welfare, and represented the City Welfare Department on the Tompkins County Committee sponsored by the State Charities Aid Assn. having to do with children on welfare.
For a number of years she served as president of the City Federation of Women’s Organizations.
She was on the board of trustees of the Cornell Library Assn.
She was an active worker for the Community Chest, and in the Tompkins County Chapter, American Red Cross.
She was president of the Ithaca Woman’s Club from 1924 to 1926.
She was a member of the First Unitarian Society.”
