"Robert E. Houchins, 49, died early this morning at his home, 504 North Albany street. The funeral will be held at 8 o'clock Saturday evening from the Calvary Baptist Church, 511 North Albany street, with the Rev. William D. White officiating. The remains will be taken to Washington, D.C. for interment. He leaves his widow; three daughters, Miss Ruth Houchins, Miss Emma Houchins, and Miss Lydia Houchins; and one sister, Mrs. Mary A. Fisher, all of this city.
He was a member of the colored orders of the Knights of Pythias, Elks, Masons, and also the St. Luke Lodge of this city."
