Marriage of Elizabeth Cornell Wheeler and Richard Collier Crosby on August 16, 1933

"Miss Elizabeth Cornell Wheeler, daughter of Prof. Ralph H. Wheeler and Mrs. Wheeler of Forest Home Drive, was married to Richard Collier Crosby, son of the late Prof. Dick Crosby and Mrs. Crosby, at noon today in Sage Chapel. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Roy S. Smyres, pastor of the Forest Home Chapel.
  The bride, escorted by her father, wore a princess model gown of deep ivory satin with a long flowing train. Her vell was shaped in a Juliet cap with the traditional orange blossoms, She carried a bouquet of Joanna Hill roses, lilies of the valley and gardenias.
  Miss Mardel Ogilvie, a sorority sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. She was gowned in striped chalk orchid crepe with Schiaparelli jacket with which she wore a Duncan style turban in deep orchid velvet. Her bouquet was of yellow talisman roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Isabel Guthrie of Forest Home, Miss Ruth Ellenwood of 111 Howard Place, Miss Virginia Clark of Seneca Falls and Miss Mary Mowry of Harrisburg, Pa.

  Alan W. Crosby was his brother's best man. The ushers were Merle Kelly of Lysander, Gordon Elbert of Skaneateles, Donald Russel of Marion and Chris Katsampos of Rochester, fraternity brother of the groom.

  A reception and wedding breakfast were held at the Forest Home Inn following the ceremony.
  Mrs. Crosby was graduated from Cornell University. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and Alpha Kappa Delta and Phi Kappa Phi, honorary fraternities. She is now field captain of the Ithaca Girl Scouts.
  Mr. Crosby, also a graduate of Cornell, is affiliated with the Alpha Zeta fraternity. He was captain of the cross country team. He was also a member of the senior honorary societies, Quill and Dagger and Ho-Nun-De-Kah, and the education fraternity, Phi Delta Kappa. Mr. Crosby is a science instructor in the Ithaca High School."

"Elizabeth Wheeler Crosby, 88, of Beaufort, widow of Richard C Crosby, died Saturday, May 22, 1999, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital. 
  Services will be private. The family is at the residence, 8-C Marsh Harbor, Beaufort.
  Mrs. Crosby was born June 29, 1910, in Canandaigua, N.Y., a daughter of Ralph and Jesse Wheeler.
  Surviving are a son, Richard Crosby of Beaufort; a daughter: Ruth Grayson of Atlanta: two grandchildren.
  The family suggests that those who wish may make memorials to the Beaufort County Animal Shelter."
